Eulaya Island

programming

Eulaya Island is a point-and-click adventure game built for Facebook. It was written in ActionScript 3.0 using Adobe Flash Builder by a team of 6 students, for a school project assigned to us by the University of Malta and ETC.

The aim of the game was to educate users as to how they could find a job. Players would learn what jobs consisted of, as well as the skills needed for different jobs. They would also learn how to construct a CV and what actions were acceptable during a job interview.

The game would also implement mini-games that could be used both to demonstrate different jobs (Construction work was portrayed as Tetris, for example), as well as to change the flow of the game. Thus, the game would be a combination of a point-and-click adventure game as well as several styles of mini-games.

Most of the game engine was coded from scratch, taking into account scene representation (where different scenes were represented as XML files and built on the fly), path finding, a context menu for different actions, player movement and animation and inventory management. All graphics were hand-drawn by Emma Vassallo Bianchi and Andre Grima.

Unfortunately due to time constraints and the sheer size of the project, a playable version of Eulaya Island was never formally completed.
